Rennie Harris University "Unearthing the Phenomena of Hip Hop" lecture series dives into the evolution of hip hop and street dance and beyond. You can register to take individual sessions, or the full course. This course is open to ALL including street dancers (formal and non-formal training), hip hop and street dance educators, and students. Lecturers include: Dr. Halifu Osumare, Dr. Brenda Dixon Gottschild, Pop Master Fabel, Buddha Stretch, Rennie Harris, and Dr. Thomas DeFrantz.

Innovative choreographer Alonzo King has transformed contemporary ballet by exploring the physical, philosophical, and spiritual dimensions of ballet. Founder of LINES Ballet in San Francisco, King has choreographed more than 165 works for the company and for leading dance ensembles throughout the world. February 8 at 7pm at Colburn.

Community Day is a monthly community outreach initiative incorporating a theme around which the day’s events are centered. Each month during LAB’s season, the dancers of Los Angeles Ballet offer FREE ballet classes, alternative dance/fitness classes, and lectures/demonstrations.
